Tape Image Utilities

These utilities allow the manipulation of tape image files under Unix or similar systems. They have been (minimally) tested under Red Hat Linux 5.2, 6.1, and 6.2, but should work on other systems.

tapeutils is distributed under the terms of the Free Software Foundation's General Public License, Version 2. If you agree to the terms of the license, you may download them.

tapecopy

tapecopy is similar to the traditional Unix tcopy utility. However, it uses the tapeio library to support copying to and from any mix of local tape drives, remote tape drives (using rmt), and tape image files in John Wilson's format.

tapedump

tapedump uses the tapeio library to read a tape or tape image file, and produce a dump of the contents in hexadecimal and ASCII, with headers for file and record numbers.
